Monument Demographics

According to the 2010 United States Census, the population of Monument was about 5,530 people split into a total of 1,802 households. The population density of Monument was about 1,132.91 people per square mile compared to the state’s population density of 48.31 people per square mile.


Of the population, 34% were under the age of 18 years old, 12% were between the ages of 20 and 34 years old, 29% were between the ages of 35 and 49, 16% were between the ages of 50 and 64, and 6% were over the age of 65 years old.


Of the households, 49.5% had children under the age of 18 living within them, 14.4% were single people living alone, and 4.1% had an individual 65 years old or older living alone. The average household size in Monument was 3.07 and the average family size was 3.42 people.


The racial makeup of Monument in 2010 was as follows: 89% White residents, 2.6% Asian residents, 1.7% Black residents, .6% American Indian and Alaska Native residents, and .1% Pacific Islander residents. 4.5% of Monument residents identified as two or more races and .6% identified as an “other” race.
