Monument, and Colorado in general, is a very active place to live. With the natural beauty of the community, it is no wonder why so many Monument residents want to get out and about, regardless of the weather. Skiing, snowboarding, and sledding are all common activities during the winter months for Monument locals. When it is nicer outside, hiking, running, biking, and simply walking are the sports people prefer to participate in. The Colorado Sports and Events Center is also located in Monument. The facility is home to a National Hockey League sized ice rink where people are welcome to ice skate, play hockey, curl, or even play broomball! The facility is often referred to as the premier sports center in Southern Colorado.
