Curling is a sport that not many people are familiar with, even with its relevance at the Winter Olympics every four years. The sport involves players who slide stones on a sheet of ice, often compared to a giant game of shuffleboard. Though the sport may not be popular nationally, it certainly is in Monument.
At the Colorado Sports and Event Center, curling is one of the sports offered to residents. Through the Broadmoor Curling Club, youth and adult residents of Monument can learn and perfect the sport of curling. The club was founded in 1968 and is considered and amateur sports organization. The sport has gained more attention since the club’s induction — in fact, your league may be able to compete nationally and internationally! Pick up curling if you have never tried — it could be your new favorite sport.
